Thanks to all of you who voted for the JRF foundation to win the £3,000 grant from Loyds Bank – if you haven’t already, please make sure you do, I outlined the instructions for how to vote in the post below. There are 5 days left to vote!
Today, Sunday, I have officially been in Cape Town for 1 week! In one hour I will be picked up to go to Broadland’s Farm, which is where I will be staying until Friday. Tomorrow, Monday, I will be going on a hospital visit in Cape Town city with the eight other norwegian girls because they are studying to become nurses, and well, I want to study to be a doctor, so it should be exciting to see the hospitals here. Tuesday is when I start working at the orphanage, Fikalele. I can’t wait to get started!
At Broadland’s Farm I won’t have any internet connection (I should manage to survive…). I’ll keep writing blog posts every day, but they’ll just all be posted whenever I get internet connection again!
Before I am off, I thought I would inform you about what we were up to on Friday (Day 6).
Overall, it was a very relaxing day. I started off by going to the gym for an hour and got my heart rate beating. The four norwegian girls who had been at the orphanage then came back to Ashanti and the four girls I had spent some time with the last days, left. Irene, Camilla, Rita, Vilde and I then went down to the V&A Waterfront, which is just really big area with a huge shopping mall and lots of restaurants down by the water.
We had a look in the stores and ate at a restaurant!
South African specialities (maybe next time…)
The weather has started to be incredible – the sun is extremely hot and we all hope we’re getting a bit of a tan 🙂
Yesterday I went on a kayaking trip, so you’ll get some pictures from that next time you hear from me.
Ciao for now!
