Saturday 10th January, I will be landing in Grenada, as my second stop on my gap year. I just wanted to write a bit about the organisation I will be volunteering for when I am there as there is also an on-going project where the organisation can win up to £3,000 from Lloyds Bank so it can continue to do good work in the community. So, here comes a bit of information!
In Grenada I will be volunteering for the Jason Roberts Foundation amongst a couple of other projects.
Jason Roberts has been a professional football player from Grenada. He has played for clubs in England including Bristol Rovers, West Bromwich Albion, Wigan, Blackburn Rovers, and finally ended his career in 2014 at Reading. In 2007, he decided to start the Jason Roberts Foundation, and he was awarded with an MBE (he met the queen!) for his work with sports and the community. There are plenty of people who have spent their time writing about him, so if you’re interested you can read more about his amazing life on the following two links:

You can also check out his website at: http://jasonroberts30.com
Here’s a bit of information on the Jason Roberts Foundation from their website:
“The Jason Roberts Foundation was established in 2007 with the principal aim to enable young people to realise their full potential by equipping them with the tools to succeed in life, achieve wellbeing and aspire to be the best they can be, through sport, educational and cultural activities.
The aim of the Foundation is to deliver sustainable programmes, helping young people to reach their potential by creating an encouraging learning environment with effective participation and a pathway for all to develop and grow.
Over the last 7-years the Foundation has engaged over 128,000 children, young people and young adults in London and the Caribbean, in a range of sports and educational programmes, all designed to encourage, enable and create wider opportunities in their lives.”
The Jason Roberts Foundation has been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014 in Wembley. So by voting, the Jason Roberts Foundation has a chance to be be given £3,000 Lloyds Bank!!
I was therefore hoping everyone reading this would take just 3 minutes to vote for JRF on the link below – I’m sure everyone involved in the Foundation would really appreciate it! Here’s how you can vote:
- Go to the following link:

- Click on the orange ‘Vote for Us’ square in the upper-right hand corner
- Enter your first and last name and e-mail
- You will then receive an e-mail where you have to accept the vote
Thank you for taking your time to do this in advance!
