Hey,

I will undoubtedly miss my soft and big double bed in my cosy little room, but when Ashanti Backpackers Lodge is where I will spend a lot of time for the next 3 months, I’m not too concerned!

Big thumbs up for a pool! 

I just found out today that I will be sharing this room with 4 Norwegian nursing students! 

I will be moving quite a lot around Cape Town due to the location of the two different homes. Fikelela Children’s Home (my first placement) is located in Khayelitsha, towards Somerset West and I will therefore be staying at Broadlands Farm in Somerset West from Monday to Friday while I volunteer at Fikelela. Every weekend I will go back to Ashanti Lodge though!

Ashanti Lodge is located in Green Point, just above Cape Town, as indicated on the map. My placement at Fikelela only starts Monday October 6th, so I will spend next week at Ashanti Lodge, where I should have plenty of time to settle in and get to know Cape Town!

At Ashanti Lodge you have a great view of Table Mountain and, well – I’m just very excited about arriving now 🙂

I can stay connected! 

I’m sure that staying at such a great place as Ashanti Lodge will make the transition from home (Luxembourg) to Cape Town slightly easier. It will be my first time being away from family for such a long period of time, and I’m very comforted by the fact that I will be in safe and good hands when I arrive in Cape Town. This was also one of the reasons as to why I decided to start of my gap year by volunteering through an organisation.
